It can be anything from landscape timber, railroad ties or two to ten concrete blocks. Also materials that are durable and strong enough to hold the soil can be used. The frame that we make should be hard enough to hold the soil and it is also important to protect the sides from collapsing. The bottom should be always open to make sure that we provide a good drainage.
It’s good to keep the width of the bed within two arm lengths so that it would be easy to reach any part of the garden without climbing over the bed.
The next important thing lies in choosing the soil and it’s always best to choose a soil that would ideally suit the plant you grow.
A drip hose can make your garden bed maintenance free and efficient. But still you can use a sprinkler or hand water the bed.
Using plastic mulch may help you to keep the weeds out and would make your bed maintenance free.
